General
photo safety/organizing questions:
How do I
organize years and years worth of photos?
While we can’t give you a
quick answer on exactly how to organize years and years’ worth of photos,
we can tell you how NOT to organize years and years worth of photos.
Whatever you do, don’t start pulling out everything at once. The only
thing more depressing than an out-of-control photo collection is an
out-of-control photo collection that’s spread out all over your kitchen
table when it’s time to eat dinner!
Even though we don’t have an instant answer on how to organize decades’
worth of photographs, we definitely do have an answer for you.
We have spent the past two years outlining a proven step-by-step plan
that can help you conquer your piles of photographs--once and for all!
With our e-book, "Save
Your Photos and Your Sanity" you’ll be able to uncover your own
unique needs and organizing style so that you’ll be able to easily
arrange your photographs in the way that works for you.
Is it safe to
store my photos in their original developing envelopes?
Surprisingly, the answer is
no! Standard film developing envelopes contain acid and can eventually cause
your photographs to discolor, fade and become brittle!
We know what you’re thinking and we agree . . .
Talk about unfairness! Who would ever imagine that your photos would not
be safe in the very envelopes they come in? We know this is hard to believe,
so if you’d like to see this for yourself, click here for an example of
the damage caused simply by storing
photos in a standard film developing envelope.
By the way, if you’re looking for a safe and convenient alternative, then
you’ll want to check out Photo Pockets.
I have some
printed photos and some digital photos of the same events. Should I order
all the prints so that I have all the different photos in one place?
If the digital images are high
quality, really tell the story of the event, and they hold meaning for
you, then we would recommend that you order prints and keep them all
together. This is especially important, because if anything happened to
your hard drive, you could lose all your digital images!
Questions about photo organizing supplies
What are the dimensions of Photo Pockets™ and how many
photos fit in each photo envelope?
The dimensions of both the Photo Pockets™ envelope and
the Negative Pockets™ is: 4 3/8" x 6 3/8".
Each envelope is designed to hold 12 - 15 photos. If you've got hundreds
of prints to organize, you may question the reasoning for this. As the
saying goes, "there's a method to our madness." Our primary
goal is to help you simply and safely organize your photographs -- and
record the memories that go along with those photographs. This is best
accomplished by breaking the photos into smaller groups. Therefore, the
Photo Pockets™ are intended to hold photographs from one event, rather
than from an entire roll of film.
Also, we want to help you pare down your photographs, so that you keep
only those photos that best capture the memories and emotions of the
event. We encourage you to immediately edit your photographs and get rid
of any pictures that are dark, blurry, or otherwise unattractive.
Your system seems perfect, except that it doesn't seem to
accommodate non-4x6 sizes (panorama, 5x7, etc.) Are there options
that cover these sizes?
At this time, our system is available
only in the 4x6 format. Although we've had a few requests for the
larger sizes over the past few years, there has not been enough interest
to merit the large expenditure required to manufacture the alternate
sizes of Photo Pockets and Negative Pockets.

memorabilia and oversized photographs. Visit www.organizedphotos.com/OPfaves.html for a collection of resources that
we have gathered for you.
How many photos fit into your Color 'n Color photo box?
The Color 'n Color photo box can hold about 1000 individual
photographs. If you are storing your photos in Photo Pockets™ envelopes,
you can expect to fit between 75 and 100 full envelopes into your Color
'n Color photo box depending, of course, how many photos you have within
each envelope.
How many negatives fit in a Negatives Pocket™?
You can put several negative strips into one Negative
Pockets™ envelope. You may have to trim your negatives to fit into the
envelope depending on how your developer packages them. If you do have to
trim them, do not make them smaller than 3 frames so that you won’t have
trouble with ordering reprints.
Can I order Photo Pockets and photo boxes separately or
are they only available in the full organizing package?
Our goal is to help you be successful, which means
that you need to get the supplies that are right for you.
Most people love the convenience of The Ultimate
Photo Solution, because it includes everything they need to easily
and safely organize their photographs. (And we’ve greatly discounted the
price, so it’s the most affordable way to go.)
However, you can certainly order the supplies individually if that works
best for you. Click here
